Hey, Jay Cutler! Does your girlfriend know you blew the game?
Philadelphia 24, Chicago 20
Another primetime game, another loss for the Chicago Bears, coach Lovie Smith, and Jay Cutler.
Yes, the Bears lost on Sunday Night Football once again, this time to the Philadelphia Eagles by the final score 24-20.
You could say it was Philly’s 377 total yards compared to Chicago’s 284 that did the Bears in. You could say it was allowing occurrences such as a 34-yard run by Michael Vick to happen.
I say it’s a lot of things. It’s mostly a depleted defense that’s a shadow of its former self and the fact that it seemed like all night, Cutler was trying to not throw picks, as opposed to just playing the game.
And what did the Bears in at the end with a chance to score a game-winning touchdown?
You guessed it: A Jay Cutler interception!
He was a good quarterback in Denver, under offensive genius Mike Shana-Tan, in conjunction with the great receiving core consisting of Brandon Marshall, Eddie Royal, and Brandon Stokley.
Either the pressure of being a starting quarterback in Chicago has gotten to him or this guy was just a product of Shanahan’s system and nothing more (which I really don’t believe, due to his natural ability and arm strength). I mean this guy can’t be THAT bad.
Yes, his receiving core stinks compared to his previous one he had in Denver, but come on, people! Tom Brady made guys like David Givens and Deion Branch look like Jerry Rice and Chris Carter during New England’s Super Bowl years.
I’m not saying Cutler is even on Brady’s level, but great quarterbacks can make their receivers better. Chicago’s receivers stink compared to other teams, but I wouldn’t classify them as “straight up trash, homey.”
Regardless of tonight’s loss, next week’s game, and so on, if Cutler doesn’t get it together, then Lovie Smith can kiss his job goodbye. And so can his receivers. Cutler will get one more year to prove he is an elite NFL quarterback after this season. Too bad the honeymoon ended for him before it even started.
Hey, Jay—at least you’re a trending topic on Twitter!!
