The Bears tried acquiring Anquan Boldin during the NFL Draft, but the Arizona Cardinals wanted a first-rounder in return for the Pro Bowl receiver.
The Bears didn’t have a first-round pick in this year’s draft (or next year’s) because of the Jay Cutler trade.
If the Bears acquired the 29-year-old Boldin, they would be favorites to win the Super Bowl, in my opinion.
Not only would the offense be really, really good, but the defense would be even better because they wouldn’t have to be on the field as much, thus not being too tired like in years past.
Imagine Devin Hester lined up with Anquan Boldin, plus weapons like Matt Forte, Greg Olsen, and Dez Clark.
Jay Cutler would have plenty of targets.
Boldin’s agent Drew Rosenhaus recently sent out a message via his Twitter account saying that he expects Boldin to be traded before training camp.
Bears GM Jerry Angelo had this to say about possibily making a trade for Anquan Boldin:
I’m not going to say “No” to anything, things have changed now from when we were exploring that before. But [Rosenhaus] also made the statement that someone was going to give the Cardinals a first-round pick. That’s part of the salesmanship for his client. I don’t know what Arizona is going to do. [Boldin] is under contract. We really can’t talk about that. Just leave it at that.
