The Seattle Seahawks shocked the NFL betting world last week with their upset win over the New Orleans Saints despite being double-digit underdogs. However, the odds-makers at online betting giant Sportsbook.com aren’t impressed. They currently have the Seahawks vs. Bears point spread at Seattle +10 points.
The betting public is Seattle a little love as 59 percent of the money is backing the Matt Hasselbeck led Seahawks. This is pretty amazing since the football betting public rarely sides with double-digit dogs.
These two teams met before way back in mid-October in Chicago. Despite being six-point underdogs, the Seahawks won the game outright 23-20. Bears’ quarterback Jay Cutler struggled, completing just 17 of 39 passes and failing to get the ball in the end zone. However, it should be noted that Cutler missed the previous game with a concussion.
Two weeks earlier the Bears lost to the New York Giants and one week after the Seahawks game they dropped their game against the Washington Redskins. Dropping three games in four weeks, the Bears had issues. The following week the Bears had their bye and proceeded to go 7-2 the rest of the way, including a 6-2-1 record against the spread (ATS).
Everyone knows by now, especially after last week, that Seattle is a totally different team at home. On the road, they are a notch below brutal. During the 2010 regular season, Seattle went 2-6; both straight-up and ATS.
In those eight games, their offense only managed to score just 16.7 points per game, while their defense surrendered 29.2 points per game. Moreover, in their six road losses, they lost by double-digits each time. And these were absolute blowouts: a 17-point loss at Denver, a 17-point massacre at St. Louis, a 30-point drubbing at Oakland, a 15-point defeat in New Orleans, a 19-point embarrassment in San Francisco and a 23-point no-show in Tampa.
Not getting it done on the road is nothing new for Seattle; over the last three seasons they are just 7-17 ATS when playing away from Qwest Field.

Yes, the Seahawks were impressive last week, and them covering the point spread but a couple extra bucks in my pocket. However, often when a team experiences a huge emotional win like that, it is hard to play at the same level the next week. Added to the factors above and go ahead and bet the Bears -10 points at Sportsbook.com. Oh yeah, and take the Over too (42).
