Jay Cutler Will Decide Fate of Chicago Bears in NFC North

Jay Cutler arrived to training camp this year with one goal in mind: getting back to the NFC championship game, but this time winning it.

Last season ended abruptly for the Bears and Cutler with a loss to their rival Green Bay Packers. Green Bay wound up winning the Super Bowl, while Bears fans developed a sense of distaste for their quarterback, Jay Cutler. Thankfully, the team and fan base has put that aside and looks forward to the task at hand: winning the division.

Taking a look at the teams in the NFC North, the Bears and Packers are really the only two that emerge as contenders. The Vikings are too jumbled up and do not look like a complete unit. Let’s not even begin with the Lions now.

Aaron Rodgers leads the Pack as the division favorite, but don’t count the Bears out. The Bears can easily win the North again if their star QB, Cutler, executes properly.

—Limiting interceptions and throwing high percentages passes should be priority No. 1 for Cutler. The Bears have provided Roy Williams as the big, tall target Jay has been asking for.

—Utilizing tight end Kellen Davis in the open field and Matt Spaeth in the red zone and short yardage will free open receivers for deep threats.

—Executing play action with Matt Forte and subsequently dumping it off to his running back will create plenty of scoring opportunities.

These are only three of examples of what Cutler needs to do to regain his glory. If he does his part of the offense side, I see no reason for the Bears not to repeat as division champs.

Then again, this self proclaimed “lockdown defense” can be pretty shaky sometimes as well…
