The Chicago Bears blew out the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football 34-18 at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas.
Things could have been uglier for America’s Team if not for a late touchdown and two-point conversion from the Cowboys backup Kyle Orton to tight end Jason Witten.
Interestingly enough, the Cowboys led in the total yardage category 430-361 and managed to pick up 26 first downs to Chicago’s 18.
The saving grace for the Bears was Tony Romo‘s horrific night. The embattled quarterback threw for 307 yards and a touchdown, but also tied a career high with a ridiculous five interceptions.
Jason Witten was the highlight for the ‘Boys, catching 13 passes for 112 yards and a score. Dez Bryant added 105 yards of his own on eight grabs, but was embarrassingly bad more often than not, hurting his team via penalties and by dropping easy passes.
For Chicago, things couldn’t have turned out better. Jay Cutler completed 18-of-24 passes for 275 yards and two touchdowns.
Brandon Marshall was the best player overall in the game, making life easy for Cutler by hauling in seven passes for 138 yards and a score.
Defensively, the Bears were exceptional, taking advantage of Romo’s every mistake. D.J. Moore, Charles Tillman, Lance Briggs and Major Wright all intercepted Romo, with the exception being Wright, who grabbed two.
Briggs and Tillman made the most of Romo’s errant passes, as both returned their respective interceptions for touchdowns to put the nail in the coffin for the Cowboys.
Following the loss, the Cowboys drop to 2-2 and face a tough test as Romo and Co. have to travel to Atlanta to take on one of the best teams in the league in the Falcons.
Conversely, the Bears move to 3-1 and are fortunate enough in Week 5 to face the reeling Jacksonville Jaguars.
