NFL Scores Week 9: Most Overpowering Performances of Sunday’s Action

Parity doesn’t always show itself in the NFL.

It definitely didn’t in a couple Week 9 scores.

While most of Sunday’s action was competitive, the rest got out of hand. Here are the contests in which the outcome was decided long before the final whistle blew.

Detroit Lions 31, Jacksonville Jaguars 14

Believe it or not, this game was tied going into the second quarter.

And then Mikel Leshoure scored three touchdowns…in the second quarter. Joique Bell also added a ground touchdown, as the Lions didn’t struggle to move the ball at all. They averaged 6.4 yards per offensive play and racked up a total of 434 compared to the Jags’ 279.

Of course, that’s more than Jacksonville usually averages. Two fourth-quarter Blaine Gabbert touchdown passes were the only things that made the score appear at least somewhat competitive.

Chicago Bears 51, Tennessee Titans 20

Even with a 31-point spread, the scoreboard doesn’t do justice to the Bears’ dominance. If it wasn’t for a stat-padding 80-yard Chris Johnson touchdown run after the contest had long been decided, it’d look even worse.

Chicago forced a whopping five turnovers on the afternoon. Brian Urlacher returned an interception for a touchdown, and Charles Tillman forced four fumbles. And no, that isn’t a typo (tweets via Bears Rapid Reports, Tom Fornelli).

Also, that quintet of turnovers doesn’t even include the blocked punt Corey Wootton returned for a touchdown.

On the other side of the ball, Jay Cutler connected with Brandon Marshall nine times for 122 yards and three touchdowns.
