Things have gotten chippy during NFL camps already this summer, and now it looks like Chicago Bears tight end Martellus Bennett is the latest to lose his cool.

After rookie cornerback Kyle Fuller took Bennett down in the process of going for a strip, Bennett picked up Fuller and slammed him to the ground in an impressive power-bomb move. The two players had to be separated.

Update: August 5 at 11:10 a.m. ET

ESPN’s Michael C. Wright reported that Bennett has been punished by the team:

Jay Cutler was among the Bears teammates to give Fuller some encouragement immediately following the scuffle. Practice was subsequently called off by head coach Marc Trestman, but the two were reportedly OK with each other afterward and high-fived.

Bennett was not apologetic about the incident in an interview with Jeff Dickerson of ESPN.com, however:

I come to training camp for one reason and that’s to prepare to win a championship,” Bennett said later at lunch. “I play hard and go hard every single day. I’m probably one of the most violent people on the field. That’s just my style of play. I’m going to continue to play the same way I always play. That’s what I’m here for.

“It’s practice. Practice is practice. I know I sound like Allen Iverson right now, but it’s practice. [Expletive] happens at practice. You learn from it. That’s why it’s practice.”
