Chicago Bears defensive tackle Ego Ferguson has been suspended four games for violating the NFL‘s policy on performance-enhancing substances, the team announced Thursday.

According to the Bears, Ferguson will begin serving his suspension immediately even though he was placed on injured reserve in October with a season-ending knee injury. As a result, Ferguson will be stripped of four game checks, according to WGN Radio’s Adam Hoge.

Ferguson appeared in four games this season prior to hitting the shelf but mustered just one tackle. As a rookie, the 2014 second-round pick out of LSU appeared in all 16 games. During that stretch, he totaled 12 tackles and two sacks as a rotational piece of Chicago’s defensive line.
