Four days after the release of former Pro Bowl running back Edgerrin James, I wondered if the Chicago Bears would actually try to sign him.

I know Edge is getting up there in age, but he might still have a couple of good years left in the tank.

Edge would be an excellent complement back to Matt Forte.

Many teams in the league have three solid running backs, I mean look at the Giants last season, they had Brandon Jacobs, Derrick Ward, and Ahmad Bradshaw.

If the Bears add Edge they could have him, Matt Forte, and Kevin Jones.

This move would be good, only if Edge doesn’t ask for too much money because everyone knows the Bears owners are pretty stingy, plus they have to sign Jay Cutler to a long deal soon.

Edge was great with the Indianapolis Colts, but when he came over to the Cardinals, there offensive line didn’t really help him gel with the team.

In his 10 seasons, he’s started over 140 games, rushing for over 12,00 yards and scoring 80 touchdowns on the ground, while averaging a 4.1 yards per carry.

In his last season with the Colts (2005), Edge ran for over 1500 yards and scored 13 touchdowns on the ground.

In his first two seasons with the Cardinals, he ran for 1,300 yards and scored 13 touchdowns on the ground.

But last season he was benched in seven games last season in favor of rookie Tim Hightower.

He ran for only 514 yards and scored only three times on the ground, those were career lows for Edge.

Edge is 11th on the NFL career rushing list.

The Bears should add this 31 year old runner, who looked pretty solid in the playoffs last season.

What do you think?
