The 2010 NFL Draft is only three days away, bringing thrills and excitement to nearly every franchise and their passionate fans.

Unfortunately, this excludes the Chicago Bears , who are left without a first and second round pick.

But this shouldn’t leave the team and its fans out of the fun in mock draft predictions.

After uncovering the first three rounds of a quarter of the league’s presumable prospects, the series continues with Chicago, who hopes to still find great value and make a hefty splash in the middle and later rounds of the draft.

Round 3, Pick 20—Jared Veldheer, OT, Hillsdale

Having only five picks in the entire draft, Chicago decides to stockpile, sending the 75th pick overall to Cincinnati in exchange of their two third round picks (84th and 96th overall).

With voids to fill at guard and tackle, the Bears assess one of the needs on the O-Line right away with a Division II All-American offensive tackle.

Jared Veldheer is an athletic, massive, and powerful monster, especially at pass protection.  Veldheer has the undeniable potential to become an immediate starter.

Verse of this Piece

“And patience produces character, and character produces hope.  And this hope will never disappoint us, because God has poured out his love to fill our hearts.  He gave us his love through the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to us.”—Romans 5: 4-5

Round 3, Pick 36—Amari Spievey, CB, Iowa

The Bears leap on another great steal near the end of the third round, addressing the void that occurred with the release of cornerback Nathan Vasher

Amari Spievey can be over aggressive in run support, but it’s in part of his stellar coverage skills.

Spievey reads routes very well, has great awareness, and has the quickness to keep up with elite NFL receivers.  He’s also a solid ballhawk, a natural shut down corner, and will likely starter from day one on the Bears’ up-and-coming defense.

Hypothetical First Round Target?

The Bears will likely target wide receiver and an interior offensive lineman with their next draft choices.  But I’d like to know, who you think the Bears would target if they still had their first-round pick.  Let me know your thoughts.
