Angry Bears Fans Can’t Even Turn To Their Gould

Last night may very well have been the end of season for the Chicago Bears and it was a sad ending.  Yes, technically speaking, the Bears are by all means in the race for a playoff spot.  They still have four division games left, including two games against the second coming of the purple people eaters.  That is your cue to start crying.  The Bears may very well lose all four of those games including their match-up against the pussycat lions.

The Bears started this season with great optimism about where Jay Cutler could lead this team, and it seems that we may have to wait until next year or maybe even a couple of years down the road to find out where that may be.

The team is simply in disarray.

Cutler’s head hangs lower than an elephant’s trunk every time he throws another pick.   The team highlight reel is nothing more than a swing and miss defense, (unless they are aiming for an opponent’s helmet) a wildly inconsistent offense, and a head coach that gives off the impression of the world’s greatest stoic, but who is truly lost at heart.

After last night’s debacle the most encouraging words were offered by Devin Hester, the All-World punt and kick returner, transformed into a mediocre number one receiver.  “We still have seven weeks left.”  You’re right Devin.  We do.  Yet, what does this mean?

What are the Bears possibly going to find out in the next seven weeks that they don’t already know?  Lovie couldn’t tell ya.  Hester took the words right out of his mouth.  The only comment Lovie can make these days is already pointed out by the schedule hanging up in your local diner.

The Bears have seven weeks left.  To do what?  To have Matt Forte lose all confidence before next season, by continually picking which opposing defender would be better to run to at the line of scrimmage?  To move all the way down the field only to have the franchise quarterback whip another errant pass into the arms of the defense?

With seven weeks left to play the Bears can’t turn a rookie quarterback to see if he is the answer.  They can’t fire their coach in hopes that the interim coach may be the answer.  That truth is that we don’t know is the answer lies within this team.  The most highly functioning part of this team is Robbie Gould.

Gould is now the second most accurate kicker in the history of the league.  Yet we can’t even get him on the field before we turn the ball over.
