Bears’ Affairs: Why We Should Draft Myron Rolle

The Chicago Bears are only a couple of position fills away from being one of NFC’s contenders in 2010.
Safeties in Lovie Smith’s defense are not only important, but vital. The infamous Cover/Tampa 2 defense, in my opinion, can still be effective…with the right players in place. Myron Rolle fits that perfectly.
With big hitters in Brian Urlacher and Lance Briggs, you don’t necessarily need to be on the lookout for a hammer.
Many Bears fans, like me, miss the best safety we’ve had in years: Mike Brown. Some feel the need to attain a safety exactly like Brown, when I feel it’s time for more changes.
If, and a big if, Chicago doesn’t trade up in the draft for a safety, Myron Rolle would be an ideal fit. A very good, but improbable choice, would be to trade up in the draft to grab a young, athletic right tackle.
According to many draft experts, Myron Rolle should be available by the time Chi-Town is on the clock.
Chicago’s line was totally blown away last year. While stats don’t show it, Jay Cutler was constantly under fire until the final games, when Chris Williams was thrown back to his natural position at left tackle.
Lovie wants to have Frank Omiyale play right tackle next year, opposed to left guard last year. Until proven otherwise, this decision is wrong.
I understand RT is different than LG, but regardless, Omiyale couldn’t hold a block to save his life. At the moment, I support the young Josh Beekman at left guard.
Myron Rolle, the 23-year-old Rhodes Scholar, is arguably the smartest man in the draft. This proves that he should contribute to any team, regardless of scheme.
While Rolle may not be the flashiest safety, he is a solid defender and should be able to process a defensive scheme and read an offense considerably well.
The Florida State prospect’s work ethic is undeniable and will work with coaches accordingly. One can state that Rolle is one of the most gifted student-athletes in the 2010 NFL Draft. Also, the Bears have always kept a clean image. Do you ever see Myron getting in trouble?
It would be amazingly smart to move up in the draft to attain a right tackle, then draft the 6-2, 218 pounder in Myron Rolle at pick 75.
