Brandon Marshall Brings Chicago Bears More Problems Than Solutions

The Chicago Bears needed a big receiver to improve the offense, but Brandon Marshall is not the answer to their problems.
On the field, Marshall is as solid as they come. He is not a big-play guy, but the receiver has finished with over 1,000 receiving yards in each of the past five seasons.
Considering no Bears player has topped that mark since Marty Booker in 2002, it seems like a perfect fit.
Unfortunately, the acquisition of the veteran comes with a host of other issues.
The last straw for the Miami Dolphins seemed to be the assault allegations from this weekend, but it is only one of many problems with the law that Marshall has encountered over the years.
This week, the Chicago Tribune researched the troubled past of the receiver. The “rap sheet” starts with an arrest during his junior year of college and continues through his wife stabbing him “out of self-defense.”
Marshall is confident that the latest incident is just a misunderstanding, and he believes the NFL will not need to get involved (as reported by Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times).
Unfortunately, commissioner Roger Goodell has a history of taking matters into his own hands when players are not acting “professionally” on their own time.
Even if no suspensions stem from this incident, it is only a matter of time until something else happens.
While one can say that the time on the field from a Pro Bowl receiver is worth it, Chicago needs to start cleaning up the locker room.
After last season’s Sam Hurd fiasco, the Bears should do everything in their power to start getting high-quality individuals.
Distractions are never key to success.
