Brandon Marshall Is Wrong on Suh’s Hit Plus Other NFC North News and Notes

Ndamukong Suh devastated Jay Cutler on a sack last night. Just wiped him out with a hit that pretty much made everyone watching wince.
It was also a clean hit.
Suh is a lot of things, but on that play he was a football player making a football play. No more, no less.
I get and respect Marshall going to bat for his quarterback. However, when everyone on your team, including your quarterback, says it was clean, well, it’s probably an indication it was clean.
This is the sort of thing which comes of being Suh though. People will always assume the worst. I don’t know if Marshall saw the hit on film later, but if he did, he must have glanced at it.
It looked much worse live, I’ll give him that. Especially when Cutler wasn’t getting up. But the more they slowed it down, the more you saw it repeated, the less terrible it looked.
We are constantly reminded about how the NFL is making the game safe. I wholeheartedly support this. However, football is football, and it’s a violent sport. Like they say, it’s not a contact sport, it’s a collision sport.
Suh made a football move and Cutler got banged up. It speaks a lot to Cutler’s toughness (something questioned way too often at this point) but doesn’t speak as much about Suh, no matter how Marshall feels about it.
