No worries, newly-signed Chicago Bear Brandon Marshall is not worried about the allegations that he punched a woman at a nightclub over the weekend. As the Chicago Sun-Times is reporting, Marshall could care less about these accusations:

“No fear at all. Once it has taken its course, I think you will see things totally different, and we’re excited about the process. I understand and I get the perception out there. Those are the seeds that I’ve planted early on in my career up until last year.”

Also:

“In due time, the truth will be out, and we’re excited about that. Given my history, I definitely understand the concern and the questions.”

And regarding his concern for his possible suspension:

“Absolutely not.”

A couple quick things, Um, what?! If I were Brandon Marshall, I would be buying a new TV to watch during my eminent suspension, lasting anywhere from 1-6 games. How does Marshall not think he is going to be suspended, given his, as he puts it, “history”.

His history is not a good one: Charges of assault on a law enforcement officer, refusal to obey, disorderly conduct and resisting an officer in 2004 (on Halloween). In 2007, he was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence, then a few months later for DUI. 2008 came and Marshall saw misdemeanor battery charges. 2009 had Marshall on disorderly conduct. 2011 he was stabbed by his wife.

I like Marshall a lot, actually. I think he gets a bad rap and some things are out of his control due to his personality disorder. That’s no excuse to beat a woman, obviously, but how does Marshall expect to get out of this one without any consequences? Does Marshall really want “the truth” out? That’s a pretty bold statement, one that is hard to go back on. 

Marshall is pretty confident that he didn’t do anything wrong, which is either reassuring or horrifying to Chicago fans. Which side are you on?
