Brandon Marshall can dominate a football game as well as anyone.

In fact, the new Chicago Bear actually holds the record for the most receptions in a single game. But Marshall is more than a handful sometimes, and the Miami Dolphins shipped him to Chicago for two third-round picks because of it.

The mercurial receiver promptly found himself in trouble off the field shortly after the trade.

Fortunately for Jay Cutler, his newest weapon shouldn’t see any real problems come from a nightclub incident in which he allegedly punched a woman in the face.

According to ESPN.com:

New York police are likely to wrap up their investigation this week into a March nightclub incident in which Chicago Bears receiver Brandon Marshall is alleged to have punched a woman in the face, NFL sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Police have struggled to find evidence against Marshall, according to sources, and it’s likely there will be no charges filed and the case will be closed.

This is welcome news not only for Marshall, but the Bears as well.

Legitimate legal trouble would have likely landed him a suspension from controversial commissioner Roger Goodell, but he should now be in the clear.

Bears QB Jay Cutler hasn’t had a true No. 1 receiver since he played with Marshall in Denver.

The Bears, who play in a division where points are at a premium, were wise to find themselves a weapon.

Marshall and Cutler should quickly fall back in with one another, and we can expect these two to put up numbers in the crowded NFC North.
