Breaking News: Chicago Bears Sign Jason Campbell to Back Up Jay Cutler

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Bears have found their guy to back up Jay Cutler.
QB Jason Campbell reached agreement with the Bears on a one-year deal.

The Bears will be Jason Campbell’s third NFL team, having spent his first four seasons with the Redskins and his last two in Oakland.
Funny enough, before Cutler was traded to the Bears, it was rumored the Redskins were offering a package including Campbell. It ended up back then that Denver preferred Bears QB Kyle Orton. This time around, it looks like the Bears preferred Campbell, as Orton is also available on the free-agent market.
Campbell is coming off an injury-shortened season, which led to the Raiders trading for Carson Palmer. He broke his collarbone during a Week 6 game against the Browns.
For his career, he has played in 71 games, throwing for over 14,000 yards with 74 touchdowns and 50 interceptions. His best season came in 2009, when he started all 16 games for the Redskins. That season, he threw for over 3,600 yards with 20 touchdowns and 15 interceptions.
So far, general manager Phil Emery has address the Bears’ two biggest concerns on offense with the trade, and now, the signing of a back-up QB.
The signing probably brings an end to Josh McCown’s time with the Bears. I would expect the Bears will keep Nathan Enderle as their third quartback. Also, it doesn’t help that Brandon Marshall has said he will wear McCown’s No. 15 with the Bears next season.
Can’t wait to see what Emery can do for the other side of the ball.
