Brett Favre Talk Adds Unnecessary Pressure on Chicago Bears

The quarterback position is the most important in all of football. And to be completely honest, it is my favorite positional overall.
So when I have to sit back and write about the likes of Donovan McNabb and Brett Favre joining a desperate team, it actually pains me to the core.
The two quarterbacks have only two things in common. One, they’re always discussed when a QB job is open, and two, they could write a book how not to end your career in the NFL.
And now, with Favre’s career technically already over and McNabb’s heading down that same route, the two are the media’s natural choices to take over the sinking ship in Chicago.
The Bears, who looked more and more like legitimate postseason and possibly even Super Bowl contenders, lost Jay Cutler and Matt Forte in a matter of two weeks and have dropped both games since Cutler’s injury.
Now at 7-5, the team is slightly panicking due to the horrendous performance put forth by Caleb Hanie last week.
On Monday the Bears reportedly held internal discussions about whether or not to make a move for McNabb. The former Eagle, Redskin and Viking QB has been run out of each city and looked worse and worse with each passing stop.
As for the Vikings QB before McNabb, that was Favre.
Reports on Monday said that Favre would pick up the phone and talk with the Bears if they were interested.
The last thing the Bears need right now is more pressure. It is undeniable that they need help with Forte and Cutler injured, but both McNabb and Favre—especially Favre—bring more concerns than help.
It is bad enough already that the Bears are stuck in a wild NFC Wild-Card race with the Detroit Lions, Atlanta Falcons, Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants for the final four weeks, and even entertaining Favre talk is a mistake.
The last time he was on the field, it was a mistake, and this time around, it would be an even bigger mistake.
