Chicago Bears: Greg Olson To Be Starting Tight End

Full-team drills have started and when the first team offense made its way onto the field, Desmond Clark remained on the sidelines. Instead, he will be passing the torch onto Greg Olson as the new starting tight end for the Chicago Bears.
Clark has started 67 straight games, and that streak will come to an end when Olson takes the field with the first team on September 13 against Green Bay. Behind Tony Gonzalez, Clark has started the most games at his position (92) since 2003.
Most professional egothletes don’t take being replaced very well. However, Clark has been very professional about the move.
“You would have liked to have a battle to see the best person win, but that wasn’t the case,” Clark said in a statement. “Crying and whining about it is not going to do much. I’m not a young guy in the league to say I don’t like this, so I’m going to try to finagle my way out of the situation. So I might as well make the best of it.”
Clark will still have a defined role in the offense while playing a lot of snaps. However, pro-athletes always care about who is starting, despite them telling you different. With a lot of two-tight end sets in the offense, expect Clark to have just as much of an impact as he has in previous years.
This means Olson will see more playing time and with his play-making ability, this will benefit Jay Cutler. It has been noted that they already have great chemistry, so expect big things out of this pair come September.
