It’s that time of the year again, time to vote for your favorite players to give them a chance to make it into this year’s Pro Bowl.  The Bears haven’t had a lot of luck with putting players into the NFL’s All-Star game in the recent past. 

They have had linebacker Lance Briggs go on a regular basis and usually stick a special teams player in there (like Johnny Knox or Devin Hester) but they just haven’t put too many players in the game lately.

Could this be the year that the Bears finally put more than two guys in the Pro Bowl?  It could very easily be.

The following is a look at some of the Chicago Bears that can be considered for the Pro Bowl this season and why they should earn your vote for the league’s All-Star game.

OLB Lance Briggs-This one should be a no-brainer.  Briggs has consistently made it to the Pro Bowl and is having yet another strong year with the Bears.  He has been hobbled by an ankle injury at times and has missed some time in games, but is still one of the best players at his position and needs to be considered for the Pro Bowl.

MLB-Brian Urlacher-Is it possible that Urlacher, after a long hiatus from the Pro Bowl, could be selected to another one this season.  Urlacher stormed to a big start to begin the season and has been playing some of the most consistent football of any player at his position in the NFL. 

He is the heart and soul of the Bears defense and should be voted, by fans and players alike, to his first Pro Bowl in a while.

DE-Julius Peppers-This one should be easy, especially after his big game against the Dolphins the other night.  While Peppers may not be getting the sacks that some people feel he needs to be a success, he has done a lot more than just sack the quarterback.

In addition to that, he’s gotten pressure at critical times, caused offensive linemen to hold or have false starts, and has played the run very well.  

Being named NFC Defensive Player of the Week (this week) should help him, also.  His name is even being thrown around as a potential Defensive Player of the Year candidate.

DE-Israel Idonije-While it may look like he could be a long shot to make the Pro Bowl, you just never know.  Idonije is having a very nice season, leading the team in sacks.  He’s been able to feed off of what Peppers has been able to do on the other side (in taking up double and sometimes triple teams which frees up Idonije to get in for a sack).

Idonije may be on the outside looking in but he should definitely be considered.

KR/PR-Devin Hester-There will be someone on special teams who ends up going (providing he doesn’t suffer any kind of breakdown in the next couple of games).  Who is it?  Devin Hester.  

Hester has had a big resurgence in the return game this season, already returning two kicks for a touchdown and having some games with a lot of return yardage.  Hester is sure to be a fan and player favorite and is almost a lock to make the Pro Bowl this year. 

Is there anyone on the offensive side of the ball that should be considered for the Pro Bowl?  After the problems that the Bears had on offense to start the season it’s difficult to think that someone from that side of the ball will make it onto the NFC Pro Bowl roster when it’s all said and done.

It looks like the Bears won’t put any offensive players in the Pro Bowl this year.
