Chicago Bears Insider: My Christmas Wishes for the Bears

As a child, did you ever make a Christmas wish list for yourself? Did you ever hope that your mom would give that list to Santa Claus and that you would get everything (or as close to everything you could) on that list? Do you think that NFL teams have a Christmas wish list that they work from in order to get their hopes and dreams fulfilled?
I have a Christmas wish list for the Bears that I have compiled, in no particular order. Here are 10 things that I hope happen to the Bears this season and beyond as one fan hopes that this team will turn into a Super Bowl winner soon.
1. I Wish for Jay Cutler To Quit Turning the Ball Over
Although he has cut down on his interception total a lot compared to the 2009 season, he is fumbling the ball and throwing interceptions (although not at the alarming pace that he did in 2009). His turnovers have cost the Bears at times and he could have one that ends up costing them in the playoffs (if they make it).
2. I Want Brian Urlacher To Play Forever
After being gone in 2009, Urlacher has come back and looked like he did when he came into the NFL as a rookie. He has been a big reason why the Bears have had some good success against the run this year and has been active in rushing the passer and dropping back into coverage. It’s too bad he can’t play middle linebacker for the Bears forever.
3. For Julius Peppers To Win Defensive Player of the Year
When bringing up the fact that Peppers has to be in contention for the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year award, I tend to get a lot of flak from people who feel that Green Bay’s Clay Matthews has done a much better job this season. They tell me that there is no way that Peppers can win.
I think that he will win and think that he deserves the honor. Here is hoping that we hear his name called when they announce it.
4. For Pisa Tinoisamoa To Come Back Soon
Nick Roach has always played the linebacker spots on the Bears nicely but Tinoisamoa has great instincts, flies to the ball much better than Roach does and he’s an asset when covering tight ends. He’s been banged up a little bit but hopefully he heals up quickly and gets back into the lineup quickly.
5. For D.J. Moore To Keep Doing What He Does
I have been really impressed by the play of D.J. Moore this season. I don’t know how everyone else feels but I think that he’s been a real asset on defense at the nickelback position and deserves a lot more credit than he gets. Hopefully he will be able to continue playing well and making a positive impact on the team.
6. For Devin Hester To Break the All-Time Return for Touchdown Record
Hester has been so close to breaking that record in the last two games, he almost ran a touchdown back against both Detroit and New England. It would be nice to see him break the record at Soldier Field but just breaking the record would be a great gift for Christmas.
7. I Would Like To See Brian Urlacher Make the Pro Bowl
There has been no other middle linebacker in the NFL this season that has had the impact that Urlacher has had on this team. He has been all over the field making tackles and helping to line up his fellow defenders and make sure that they are in position. Without him, the Bears wouldn’t be where they are at today.
8. I Would Like To See a 1,000-Yard Receiver
Wouldn’t it be nice to see one of the Bear’s receivers get to 1,000-plus yards this season? Not since Marty Booker was in Chicago the first time have we had a 1,000-yard receiver so having one of those would be great!
9. I Wish for Matt Forte To Have a Good Ending to the Season
It would be nice for Forte to have a strong finish to 2010 after having such a rough year in 2009. He’s been doing well this season and has helped the Bears win games. It would be nice to see him have a strong end to the season.
10. I Wish That the Bears Would Make the Playoffs
Chicago is very close to making the playoffs now and as long as they don’t drop their last three games, they should get in and make a run at the Super Bowl. It would be very nice to see Chicago get back into the playoffs after having a successful season. Anything less may not be good enough.
And one more!
11. I Wish That the Bears Would Make It to the Super Bowl
This might be a tall order but anything is possible. They have a shot at getting into the playoffs and then of course they have a shot at getting to the Super Bowl. Can they do it? It would be great if they could.
