Chicago Bears News: Does Matt Forte Want More Money Than the Bears Will Offer?

What would you say if I told you Matt Forte isn’t signing the contract the Bears have proposed because he doesn’t think it’s rich enough?
Most of us Bears fans would start the typical banter, something like, “the Bears organization is so cheap, just pay Forte!”
Given, that’s how I looked at the situation most of the offseason. I mean, why wouldn’t we pay the guy who has been generating nearly half the total offensive yards for the past four seasons?
Well, it looks more like the Bears have actually submitted a legitimately fair offer, as opposed to trying to low-ball our franchise player.
According to Yahoo Sports’ Jason Cole, Matt Forte is likely seeking money in the range of contracts given to Chris Johnson of the Tennessee Titans and Adrian Peterson of the Minnesota Vikings. The Bears, on the other hand, have offered a contract typical of a starting NFL running back.
It’s hard to tell if this is true, since negotiations have been very quiet. No information regarding the Bears’ offer has been leaked, making it impossible to determine whether Forte is being unreasonable or the Bears are being cheap.
I can say this. If Forte really is seeking money in the range of CJ2K and AP, come draft day, Forte may be in the market for a new home.
What do you think B/R?
