Chicago Bears: Six Players Who Could Be on the Chopping Block

As training camp approaches, several Bears players are possibly on the chopping block.
In this article are a couple of Bears players I feel could be on their way out of Chicago before the regular season starts.
Garrett Wolfe
Garrett Wolfe was a third-round draft selection for the Chicago Bears in 2007. Since being drafted, Garrett Wolfe has not produced the way he was expected to.
He has shown flashes while on the special teams unit, but that seems to be the extent of his production. I question whether or not Garrett Wolfe will still be with the Chicago Bears by the end of spring training camp.
He would have to beat out Matt Forte, Chester Taylor, or Kahlil Bell to make the team.
D.J. Moore
D.J. Moore was a fourth-round draft selection for the Chicago Bears in 2009.
I know he is still very young, I know that rookies need time to develop. I just feel that D.J. Moore may be a little too small for the NFL.
He only appeared in three games all last season and made little to no impact whatsoever. After the Bears brought in another CB through the draft this year and signed another, D.J. may need to have a great offseason to make the team at the end of training camp.
Henry Melton
Henry Melton was a fourth-round draft selection for the Chicago Bears in 2009.
I know I seem to be going after non-producing 2009 rookies. The thing is, I just do not feel Melton would fit our scheme. He has barely played DE in college, and obviously is not a NFL running back (he also played RB in college).
I think he will make the team mainly because the Bears are not over-crowded at the DE position. I do not expect him to make much of an impact this upcoming season though.
Rashied Davis
Rashied Davis is hanging on by a thread. He is solely on this team because of his special teams play.
He has not been an impact WR for a number of years now. Juaquin Iglesias has put in his time and has progressed like we’d expect a rookie to do.
If Juaquin can solidify a place on special teams, look for the door to open on Rashied.
Kellen Davis
In my opinion, Kellen Davis is a good TE. He is still raw and has a lot of upside. His size alone is valuable, at 6’7″, 262 pounds. He has made some nice catches while filling in for ailing Bears TEs.
The question mark on him is his inside and outside blocking. For a guy with his size and strength, you would think blocking would be a piece of cake—for Kellen, however, it is not. He has missed some crucial blocks.
With the signing of Manumaleuna, this makes for an over-crowded TE position.
Who gets the axe? If anyone is going to get the axe, it will be down to Kellen Davis and Desmond Clarke, both of which I personally like.
Josh Bullocks
I was never a fan of this signing in the first place. Thankfully, it didn’t necessarily come back to bite us, because he rarely saw the field in 2009.
With the drafting of Major Wright in this year’s third round of the NFL draft and the trade for Chris Harris, expect Bullocks to get the boot. Al Afalava, Craig Steltz, and Daniel Manning provide enough depth for the Chicago secondary.
There are obviously more moves that will be made. These are players who could be on their way out by the end of training camp.
