One team was a trendy Super Bowl in the off season. One team was calling for their head coach’s head. The Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers are two unlikely teams in the NFC North that was filled with talk about a Vikings Super Bowl berth, now has seemingly faded into a disappointing experiment for the Minnesota Vikings. The 2-0 Chicago will host the 2-0 Green Bay Packers on Monday night, after a lackluster 2009 season for Jay Cutler and the Chicago Bears. In their first meeting last year, Jay Cutler threw five interceptions and Brian Urlacher was injured in the first half and ended his season in the opening week showdown last year.
This year has not been without controversy for the Chicago Bears, with the catch or non-catch that the NFL has talked about all season with Calvin Johnson in week one vs. Detroit. A draft bust in Chris Williams seems to be emerging, with his most recent injury being a pulled hamstring during the first series in Dallas. With him stepping out of the lineup, RT Frank Omiyale was moved over and preformed well as LT, after playing that position in college. Kevin Shaffer preformed well as a RT with Omiyale‘s shift to the other side.
The Packers have hummed through Philadelphia and destroyed Buffalo in their home opener. QB Aaron Rodgers has been quiet early this year, but preforms well against the Bears, with a 3-1 record in his career against them. Clay Matthews has six sacks in two games so far this year.
This will be an important match up in placing the division the order at the end of the year. Enjoy your Monday Night Football this week fans.
