Ellerbe Ruled Out vs. 49ers

Per the Saints’ official Twitter account, Ellerbe has already been ruled out for Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers.
Injuries are nothing new for Ellerbe. The 30-year-old has played only one game this season and hasn’t appeared in more than six games since the 2013 season with the Miami Dolphins.
Ellerbe made his 2016 debut in Week 8 against the Seattle Seahawks, recording five tackles in the Saints’ 25-20 victory. He initially injured his quad during the preseason and has struggled to make it back to the field as a result.
With Ellerbe out again, the Saints will likely turn to Nathan Stupar in his place. The five-year veteran has already started a career-high four games in 2016 and is tied for fifth on the team with 32 tackles.
Fortunately for the Saints, who are coming off a physical and exhausting win last week against the Seahawks, they get a break against the struggling 49ers. They can attempt to get their record back to .500 and allow Ellerbe additional time to heal as the season’s second half begins.
