Trufant Leaves Game

D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Trufant’s injury.
If he misses any games, it would the first time in his four years in the league. He appeared in 16 games in each of his first three years and in the first eight of this season.
During that span in 2016, he’s recorded 27 tackles and one interception.
However, he experienced some injury issues even before taking the field for competitive play, injuring his hip during training camp, though he only missed a few days of practice.
Since being taken 22nd overall in 2013, former Washington Huskies standout Trufant has developed into the Falcons’ best corner, recording six interceptions and 44 pass deflections over his first three seasons.
He’s shown solid awareness and an ability to diagnose where a play is going, which puts him in favorable positions, via the NFL:
His contributions to the Falcons defense saw him named as the team’s most underrated player by ESPN.com’s Vincent Verhei.
If Trufant is sidelined with this injury, the Falcons will look for Robert Alford to stabilize the secondary as he’ll be tasked with guarding the opponent’s best receiver. In his first three years, he recorded one more interception than Trufant did.
Still, the Falcons need Trufant in a division that includes the pass-heavy New Orleans Saints and the defending NFC champion Carolina Panthers.
