Goldman Expected to Miss 4 Weeks

Tuesday, Sept. 20

According to the Chicago Tribune‘s Rich Campbell, the Bears are hoping Goldman is healed in time to play in the team’s game against the Green Bay Packers on Oct. 20.

Although nose tackles don’t rack up much acclaim in the form of statistical dominance, Goldman held his own as an anchor along Chicago’s defensive line during his rookie season.

In 15 games—including 12 starts—the 2015 second-round pick accumulated 22 total tackles and a solid 4.5 sacks before he was placed on season-ending injured reserve in December with an ankle injury.

“We watched the film not too long ago, and he’s just dominant out there,” Bears linebacker Sam Acho said, according to Campbell. “And there are plays where he could be better, but that’s just a testament to…how good he can be. Eddie’s a beast. He already is really good. He’s going to be even better.”

Through two weeks in 2016, Goldman racked up seven total tackles and half a sack.

With Goldman out, third-year nose tackle Will Sutton projects as his primary replacement in the middle of Chicago’s defense.
