Minnesota Offensive Cast
Brett Favre (QB Week 10 Ranking #10) 2010 Season: 162/258 – for 1,896 Yards & 9 TDs
Last week I wrote a little column about not ranking Brett Favre, and how I knew I would be kicking myself for not doing so. I was right, because sure enough, the 41-year-old legend threw for 446 yards and two TDs when all hope seemed lost for him and the Vikings.
I will NOT do that again. While with the Vikings last year, Favre averaged 356.5 yards and 2.5 TDs per game against the Bears. I don’t foresee quite such an explosive game this time around, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it happened.
Adrian Peterson (RB Week 10 Ranking #1) 2010 Season: 180 Carries for 857 Yards & 7 TDs || 26 Recs for 257 Yards & 1 TD
Purple Jesus has played six games against the Bears in his career. In those six games, AP28 has averaged 122.2 yards and 1.83 TDs per game.
In his three games at Soldier Field, he has averaged 146.3 yards and 2.3 TDs per game. Basically, All Day should have been drafted by the Bears. Soldier Field is his home away from home, and it will be again on Sunday. Book it!
Percy Harvin (WR Week 10 Ranking #13) 2010 Season: 40 Recs for 519 Yards & 3 TDs
No Randy Moss? No problem! It doesn’t really matter what is going on around Harvin—he’ll find a way to get the fantasy job done. Last year against the Bears at Soldier Field, he went off for 101 yards on six catches with a TD.
Bernard Berrian (WR Week 10 Ranking #NR) 2010 Season: 18 Recs for 176 Yards & 0 TDs
Berrian’s nine-catch, 89-yard day was purely a product of Favre being hot as hell and the Vikings having to play some serious catch-up against a seriously awful pass defense. It won’t happen again. I promise.
Visanthe Shiancoe (TE Week 10 Ranking #13) 2010 Season: 24 Recs for 331 Yards & 2 TDs
The Bears give up the second most catches to tight ends per game, yet are the only team in the league not to have surrendered a single touchdown to them through the first half of the season. However, Shank caught a TD in each of the Vikings’ games against Chicago last season, so this might be the week the Bears’ shutout falls.
Chicago Bears (Bears Schedule)
Opponent Defensive Ranks
Minnesota Pass Defense – 2010: Yards Allowed/Game 10th – TDs Allowed T-10th
Minnesota Rush Defense – 2010: Yards Allowed/Game 7th – TDs Allowed T-15th
Chicago Offensive Cast
Jay Cutler (QB Week 10 Ranking #9) 2010 Season: 128/211 – for 1,671 Yards & 9 TDs
Cutler threw for 273 yards and four TDs against the Vikings when they played at Soldier Field last year. Will he do it again? Probably not, but he DOES like to play at home, and the Vikings pass D isn’t in the greatest shape. Their pass rush has been lacking as well this year, so the Bears O-Line shouldn’t be shot dead over this one either.
Matt Forte (RB Week 10 Ranking #27) 2010 Season: 104 Carries for 401 Yards & 3 TDs || 29 Recs for 315 Yards & 3 TDs
I’m so sick of this guy that I refuse to give him his due—though he probably deserves it with that Bears offensive line being as bad as it is. Surprisingly, the Vikings can be run on this year, so we’ll see what Forte can do at home this week, but I’m not expecting much.
Chester Taylor (RB Week 10 Ranking #NR) 2010 Season: 54 Carries for 173 Yards & 1 TD || 11 Recs for 92 Yards & 0 TDs
He’s been getting a little more play lately but is still not worth your time.
Johnny Knox (WR Week 10 Ranking #25) 2010 Season: 27 Recs for 527 Yards & 1 TD
If Cutler can do what he did last year against the Vikings at Soldier Field (273 yards, four TDs), Knox could be in for a sweet fantasy week. Minnesota’s defense isn’t what it used to be, so there’s definitely a chance of it happening.
Devin Hester (WR Week 10 Ranking #NR) 2010 Season: 20 Recs for 205 Yards & 1 TD
The Bears have been tapering back on Hester’s offensive snaps in order to get him more involved on special teams, so sit him on your bench unless your league uses return yardage.
Earl Bennett (WR Week 10 Ranking #NR) 2010 Season: 24 Recs for 263 Yards & 1 TD
Bennett has crept up the ladder all year and is now the WR2 for Chicago. Martz even claims that they’re putting in specific plays for him now because he’s done so well in learning the offense. He’ll probably sneak in the rankings next week.
Devin Aromashodu (WR Week 10 Ranking #NR) 2010 Season: 7 Recs for 111 Yards & 0 TDs
Aromashodu remains one of the bigger disappointments on the year for both the Bears and fantasy owners.
Greg Olsen (TE Week 9 Ranking #NR) 2010 Season: 21 Recs for 251 Yards & 3 TDs
The Vikings have been stellar against opposing tight ends this year, which leaves Olsen just outside my rankings for the week.
