Former Chicago Bears first-round pick Tommie Harris was arrested late Monday night and charged with several misdemeanors, including indecent exposure, based on a report from Deanese Williams-Harris of the Chicago Tribune.

The report states Harris, who was also a member of the Indianapolis Colts and San Diego Chargers during his NFL career, was charged with urinating in public and simple assault to go along with the indecent exposure charge.

Harris allegedly threatened an officer during the incident, which took place in the Wrigleyville neighborhood of Chicago.

The Oklahoma product was a key piece of the Chicago Bears defensive line for the first five years of his career, racking up 178 tackles and 24.5 sacks. His combination of size and athleticism made him simply unblockable at times.

Injuries eventually caught up with Harris, though. Once his athleticism started to fade, he was unable to have the same type of impact on the game. The Colts and Chargers both gave the three-time Pro Bowler a chance, but he couldn’t stick.

The Chargers decided against bringing Harris back into the fold after last season and he wasn’t able to sign on with another team.

Harris doesn’t have a history of off-field issues. The only incident of note came during a game in 2009 when he was ejected for punching Deuce Lutui, but he later apologized and it appeared to have occurred during the heat of the moment.

Otherwise, Harris has a pretty clean track record, making the reported situation a bit surprising. He’s due in court on Oct. 27 to face the charges.
