“Tired of your team sticking with those pesky, inexperienced wide outs? Well, the Chicago Bears’ fanatics sure are! But, with a limited time offer, you can watch that problem disappear right in front of your eyes if you trade for this incredible player!”
Sounds like an ad I’d pay for. Wouldn’t you buy it?
The Chicago Bears’ fans are ignored time after time. Management within the Bears has been regarded as cheap. Fans consistently called for the heads of numerous staff members this offseason.
That image faded quickly after Chicago’s monster of an offseason that included the inking of Julius Peppers, Chester Taylor, Chris Harris, and the 75th overall pick, Major Wright.
There’s no doubt Jerry Angelo and Virginia McCaskey broke out the checkbook following a disappointing 2009 season, but Bears fans ask for one more check.
While I realize the offensive line was horrible last season, but in the final few games the core as a whole seemed to gel together. Many Bears reporters speak highly of prospects coming up in Chicago’s system and the effect Mike Tice has on the lineman. Thus, I won’t get into that area.
What I really want at this point is a physical, smart, passionate receiver with an ambition to win football games, no matter the stakes.
Those exact words are embodied in the decription of San Diego Chargers wide receiver Vincent Jackson.
Jackson, 27, is fresh off his best season in his five-year stint as a wide out. Finishing the year with 68 receptions for 1,167 yards, Vincent could fit right in with the Chicago Bears.
What’s the cost to land our answer, you might say?
Well, the Bears definitely do not want to give up another first-round draft pick. Next year, Chicago could use that pick to draft an interior lineman or right tackle if Frank Omiyale fails.
My thinking is: Greg Olsen, a second rounder, and Danieal Manning.
The Chargers need someone to carve up opposing defenses as Antonio Gates is aging, slowly but surely. Greg Olsen steps in at this point. Olsen is a very good receiver and can even line up in the slot sometimes.
Danieal Manning is an athletic, agile, quick, utility player who has experience with Ron Rivera and can be used in any secondary. Rivera has witnessed what can be coached out of Manning, therefore could help him blossom by using his athleticism.
Not enough bang for your buck? Well, how about trading Olsen, Manning, and an upcoming receiver such as Iglecias? The Chargers’ Norv Turner has to see potential when it’s under his nose.
What do we get in return for all of these athletic players traded away?
-Vincent Jackson.
-Third rounder in 2011 NFL Draft.
Jackson not only is a good receiver, but the massive amount of intensity and fearlessness he plays with is simply unmatched in today’s game. The only downside of his traits is the increased possibility of injury. Take a look at the video in the very first comment, as it contains evidence regarding his passion and intensity.
Vincent Jackson is everything the Chicago Bears need and more, pull the trigger, Jerry.
