Jay Cutler and Chicago Bears Win Third Straight: Will They Make the Playoffs?

The Chicago Bears have been on fire of late, winning their last three games.
Last night against the Miami Dolphins the Bears defense was outstanding, allowing zero points and only 187 total yards.
Quarterback Jay Cutler didn’t do much in the 16-0 win, completing 16 out of 25 passes for 156 yards, zero touchdowns and an interception.
Despite the 7-3 record, Cutler has been hot and cold this entire season, throwing almost as many interceptions as touchdowns.
Although Cutler has been leading the Bears to victory, he will not be as fortunate in the playoffs if he cannot fix up his game. As good as Chicago’s defense is, as a team they cannot continue to rely on Brian Urlacher, Julius Peppers and Co.
This defense has not given up more than 23 points in a single game this season, but who knows how effective they’ll be against the most elite teams in the NFL? The offense must start to win games for this football squad, or they could find themselves on a serious losing streak.
So far this season, Cutler has completed 166 passes out of 271 attempts for 2,064 yards, 12 touchdowns, 10 interceptions and an 84.2 QB rating.
If Cutler can limit his interceptions by not rushing things, the Bears offense would be much better off. Instead of forcing a throw down the field, he must learn to just take the incomplete pass.
Another problem with Chicago’s offense is that they don’t get the ball to Matt Forte enough. Forte should never see fewer than 20 carries.
When he touches the ball more than 20 times, the Bears are 3-0. When he touches the ball 12 times or less, they are 2-3. It’s understandable that they want to mix up running styles by inserting Chester Taylor at running back once in a while, but Forte is their most productive player this season.
The keys to success are simple for the Chicago Bears: Continue to play impeccable defense and give the ball to Matt Forte.
