Jay Cutler: Bears QB Is Playing with Fire by Wishing Packers DBs ‘Good Luck’

Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler is no stranger to making headlines with his talk, and his latest comments could prove to be detrimental come Thursday night.
Michael C. Wright of ESPN reported Tuesday that Cutler wishes “good luck” to Green Bay Packers defensive backs in their upcoming showdown on Thursday Night Football.
Here’s more of what he had to say about his receiving core, and how they match up against the Pack.
“We’ve got some dudes that, if you’re gonna get up in their face, even our speed guys are gonna get around them, and our big guys are gonna throw and go,” Cutler said. “So we invite press coverage. We invite man (coverage). If we get that type of game, our guys outside have to make some plays for us.”
As if Cutler’s comments aren’t enough to light a fire under the Packers cornerbacks, new Bears wideout Brandon Marshall spoke up as well.
“It’s all about matchups,” Marshall said. “I’m 6-5 (listed at 6-foot-4), 230, and there aren’t too many DBs walking around that big. “If they want to get physical, I do welcome that.
It sure didn’t take long into the 2012 season for things to heat up in the NFC North.
Cutler seems to have forgotten that a cornerback by the name of Charles Woodson. The Heisman Trophy winner proved in 2011 that he can still play at an elite level. The ball-hawking DB is energetic and feisty by nature, and you can bet that he’ll be even more amped up to get things rolling Thursday.
Even though the Packers defense isn’t exactly their strongest spot, they’re still very capable of making plays and playing with the lead—which Green Bay usually has. We all know Cutler can be among the best QB’s in the league, but he also has a tendency to make huge mistakes.
All Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay had to do to get pumped up for this matchup is look at the standings. They’re the only NFC North team who couldn’t notch a Week 1 victory.
Now, all they have to do is turn on the TV and see Cutler’s and Marshall’s comments.
