Jay Cutler Fiasco: A Packer Fan’s Perspective of the Chicago Bears Situation

When the going gets tough, the tough get going.

Clearly, that’s not a phrase Cutler lives by.

Chicago Bears’ quarterback Jay Cutler did one thing that should never happen, quit on your team while there’s still hope.

Yeah, it was 14-0, yeah you weren’t playing well, but you’re the quarterback of the Chicago Bears, act like it.

I’m a Packers fan and even I can feel for the Bears fans. It shouldn’t have happened. Caleb Hanie showed why he should be your quarterback.

It was only 14-0 to him. Hanie didn’t care what the score was; he manned up. He led that team downfield. He led that team to a very close Super Bowl berth. I can say it, I was nervous watching how well Caleb was playing. He and Forte gave the Packers a run for their money and almost pulled it off.

Now numerous players are ripping on Cutler.

“Hey I think the Urban Meyer rule is [in] effect right now…when the going gets tough…QUIT” said Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew via his Twitter account.

“All I’m saying is that he can finish the game on a hurt knee… I played the whole season on one…” Jones-Drew added.

Not once during his time on the sideline did I see the trainers rush to his aid or be around him to check to see if he was ok.

Plus, if he was hurt on his knee why would he be standing up?

Washington Redskins receiver Anthony Armstrong wrote on his Twitter account “Knee-gate in Chicago.”

It’s a fiasco and the Bears should deal Cutler for something and start over anew with either a drafted quarterback, free-agent quarterback, Caleb Hanie or possibly Carson Palmer (not saying they should trade for Palmer just a suggestion).

Pictures have already surfaced of Chicago Bears fans burning the quarterback’s jersey. They have every right to be angry.

Fact of the matter is, Cutler gave up. He chicken’d his way out of the game. He manned down. A quarterback should be a leader. When you’re that close to the title, you don’t give up.

Like the late, great coach Jimmy Valvano said, “Don’t give up. Don’t ever give up.”

Even as a Packers fan I’m saying this, you deserve better Bears fans. You really, really do.
