Many people have criticized Jay Cutler for not finishing the NFC Championship game in Chicago on Sunday.

And although I know it may seem easy to (especially for someone who stupidly played through a concussion in high school football), I’m not going to.

Jay Cutler had a Class 2 MCL sprain that caused him to exit the game, so his injury was legit. Reports that he wasn’t helping fellow quarterbacks were dispelled when Caleb Heine told reporters Cutler calmed him down after the first series.

Even worse, there are reports from SI reporter Jim Trotter that when Cutler was confronted by the criticism of fellow NFL players, “He then turned his back to reporters, fiddled with some things on a shelf and bit his lip as tears welled.”

Some people may say that makes Cutler a whip, I say it takes a lot for a man to hold back tears in front of reporters and shows how hurt he was about not going to the Super Bowl.

Rather, Bears fans, let me give you some examples of true gutlessness. A sophomore on West Virginia’s basketball team walked out on the team IN THE MIDDLE OF A GAME! Not only did he not return, he is no longer welcome. That would be cause for someone like Darnell Dockett to say a player would have “to wait till me and the team shower get dressed and leave before he comes in the locker room.”

Or how about the general manager of a car dealership which FIRED a worker over the fact he wore a Green Bay Packers tie a day after the game. Nevermind the fact his grandmother had just died and it was in honor of her, the Bears lost A GAME! To root for the other team is no reason for someone to lose their job and lose a part of their life.

I can go on and on, but I won’t.

All I am going to say is thisL Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Brett Farve, Michael Vick, Phillip Rivers, Eli Manning and Drew Brees didn’t get their teams as far as Jay Cutler did.

Think about that.
