Howard Enjoying Successful Season for Bears
Howard, 22, was the team’s fifth-round selection in this year’s NFL draft (150th overall) and earned a spot on the depth chart behind Jeremy Langford and Ka’Deem Carey. After the two men above him suffered injuries, however, Howard became the starter in Chicago.
He came into Week 10 with 505 rushing yards on 99 attempts to go with 18 catches for 177 receiving yards and three total touchdowns. He continued his strong year with 15 carries for 100 yards against the Buccaneers.
While consistency has been an issue, Howard has proved in his short time on the field that he is the most talented running back on the roster and the best option to replace longtime starter Matt Forte.
