Another weekend past and we’re back to the daily grind. I hope you had a good weekend and for those of you celebrating Easter, that the Easter Bunny brought you a ton of chocolate.
Things have slowed down now that the rush of free agency has slowed and teams have begin to focus their attention on the NFL Draft full time.
There’s still plenty to talk about though and this morning we take a look at what the weekend had to offer us.
Before we get team-centric, ESPN.com’s NFC North writer Kevin Seifert had a nice column called “Busting the ‘happens all the time’ myth” regarding the claim that the bounties the New Orleans Saints had on injuring players is common.
According to players Seifert spoke with, it’s not. Definitely worth a read.
Now, on to the teams themselves.
CHICAGO BEARS
Fellow Bleacher Report writer Bob Warja had a seven-round mock for the Bears on Saturday. There are some interesting ideas there and it’s well worth a read.
Jeff Dickerson of ESPN Chicago reports that, as expected, Amobi Okoye’s days as a Bear have ended. Okoye has signed a one-year contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Brad Biggs writes in the Chicago Tribune something we’ve heard a lot of lately: that the Bears are comfortable with the people on their offensive line and Biggs doesn’t expect much help from the Draft.
GREEN BAY PACKERS
Pete Bigelow of AnnArbor.com reports that Packers cornerback Charles Woodson has donated $2 million to Motts Children’s Hospital in Michigan. Bigelow says Woodson visited the hospital often as a Michigan Wolverine and it made an impression.
Jason Wilde has sad news to report that former Packers quarterback Blair Kiel has died of natural causes.
Lori Nickel of the Milwuakee Journal-Sentinal says that Washington Huskies running back Chris Polk could be a player of interest for the Packers.
MINNESOTA VIKINGS
Bill Hubbell, right here at B/R, has put together a slideshow of five likely scenarios the Vikings might face in the first round of the NFL Draft.
Over at TwinCities.com, Charley Waters says that while OT Matt Kalil may be the first-round pick, the Vikings may be looking at Golden Domer on the defensive side of the ball for their second round selection.
DETROIT LIONS
Over at the Free Press, Dave Birkett reports that sources say the Lions will not pick talented but troubled North Alabama cornerback Janoris Jenkins in the first round.
Kris Knox over at National Football Authority reminds us that despite the recent string of arrests, the bad news does not define the Lions.
