Mark Anderson Released as Chicago Bears Sign Charles Grant

The Chicago Bears have announced they released defensive end Mark Anderson today. They have also signed veteran defensive end Charles Grant.
Anderson played five seasons with the Bears. He had an impressive rookie season with 12 sacks, and the future looked bright for him.
Anderson only recorded 5.5 sacks in his last 46 games and didn’t look good this season at all.
Grant played in all 16 games for the New Orleans Saints last season but was released in March. He played two games for the Omaha Nighthawks in the United Football League.
Drafted in 2002 by the Saints 25th overall, Grant has recorded 505 tackles, 47 sacks, and 14 forced fumbles.
The Bears are hoping Grant makes an impact right away. Grant isn’t a Pro Bowler, but the depth he can provide to the Bears can bolster the defense. The defensive line other than Julius Peppers has struggled this season. With Tommie Harris struggling, Grant is expected to be high in the rotation for the defensive line.
