In an odd turn of events, just hours after the “inner circle” of Michael Vick claimed the former Falcons quarterback was close to signing a contract, he was spotted at O’Hare Airport. Could he be close to signing a deal with the Chicago Bears and be getting ready to head to camp in Bourbonnais?
Ha!!! As soon Bears officials were tipped off to the news Vick was in the Chicagoland area they made it clear that his trip to the Windy City had nothing to do with the Chicago professional football team.
Sorry to get your hopes up with the headline but I have real doubt that Vick will play in the NFL in 2009, perhaps ever again. With all the off the field issues that he brings to the table involved the Bears will have no interest in having him be a part of their team.
What good could come of it? He’s not going to get the chance to be a starting quarterback, that’s why that Cutler fellow was brought in. Do you really think he’s going to get reps as a running back?
Hello, Forte and Kevin Jones already have created a log jam at the position and Garrett Wolfe and Adrian Peterson already both have to be at least somewhat worried about getting cut before week one.
How about as a wide receiver? Hellooo!!!! Is it just me or are there already enough “experiments” at wide out?
Devin Hester has been made a wideout with grave results, yet the Bears still feel the need to use him there instead of allowing him to be the greatest kick returner in NFL history. Earl Bennett is a “project” according to the Bears staff, there’s your projected No. 1 and No. 2 according to the first depth chart.
Michael Vick doesn’t have a position with the Bears. The juice isn’t worth the squeeze in this case. Don’t get me wrong, I personally believe Vick should be at least invited to a camp where he could fit in. He has payed his debt to society and that’s good enough for me.
We shouldn’t hold him to a different standard than we do Donte Stallworth.
I get where Bears fans make a connection to Vick with Lovie Smith and Tony Dungy (Vick’s personal adviser) being close friends and the Bears lacking a backup quarterback with much skill.
Learn to deal with not having a solid second string QB Bears fans, its part of the plan. Perhaps Vick gets signed elsewhere but I have no doubt it will not be with the Chicago Bears. I doubt he is signed in the NFL in 2009, perhaps in the future though. A fun story to look into but trust me, no chance in hell.
