Mike Martz: Solution To the Bears’ Woes?

Mike Martz will forever be known as the brain of one of the highest scoring offenses in NFL history when he was in St. Louis.
Can he keep up the reputation in Chicago?
Mike Martz and Jay Cutler will be quite the interesting mix. A gun-slinging quarterback with an offensive genius who isn’t afraid to spread the ball around. Quite the change from the typical “we’re a running team first,” mentality the Bears have become known by.
Since his days in St. Louis Martz has had a job in Detroit and in San Francisco, both as offensive coordinators. Both places he didn’t do too hot.
Chicago is going to be different.
Neither place had nearly as much talent.
In Detroit, he struggled with Jon Kitna and in San Francisco he struggled with J.T. O’Sullivan and Shaun Hill. Not exactly Jay Cutler type talent.
In San Francisco he had a good running game with Frank Gore but couldn’t do anything with it due to the lack of a passing attack.
In Chicago, he has the running game and the passing attack.
Already, there have been early reports of Jay Cutler and Martz getting along great. Something him and Turner never did. Also, there are reports of other players getting along with Martz.
I think Mike Martz can lead this underestimated Bears team pretty far in 2010.
Look at who he is working with.
A talented quarterback in Jay Cutler, two great tight ends in Desmond Clark and Greg Olsen, a potent running game with Matt Forte (who under-performed this season), and a decent passing attack with a young group of receivers. All this could possibly even outweigh the Achilles heal brought on by the old offensive line.
Devin Aromashadu showed signs of greatness in the final two games. Aromashadu caught 12 balls for 196 yards and three touchdowns in the final two weeks of the season. Pretty good if you ask me.
Is Martz the answer to the Bears’s woes? I think so.
