[Overall Record vs. Wagering Total: 3-2]
The SpreadSHREDDER’s playoff debut last week went much better than Jay Cutler‘s will. Christ, there goes another spoiler.
SEATTLE (+10) OVER CHICAGO {Sportsbook.com}
It doesn’t take a Packers homer to tell you that the Chicago Bears have been one of the scared us away from picking the Saints to cover, and it’s also the third worst point differential of all teams who made the playoffs.
As mediocre as the Seahawks have been all year, the one thing they do at an above average level is get to the quarterback as their sack total is in the top half amongst NFL playoff teams.
The Bears, on the other hand, have given 22 more sacks than they’ve registered (Julius Peppers and all) on the strength of an alarming 56 sacks surrendered by their offensive line.
Jay Cutler, who does not consistently perform in big games, will be making his playoff debut this weekend and the Bears have won with defense and clock management. Throw in the fact that the weather conditions will be hovering around the low 20s in Chicago, and we’re more than happy to take the Seahawks in yet another playoff upset.
SEATTLE, 16-14
PITTSBURGH (-3) OVER BALTIMORE {Sportsbook.com}
The one week rest will be key for the Pittsburgh Steelers, who should be able to outlast the Ravens in a physical contest. The more time that has passed, the more we love the Steelers in the playoffs. The Steelers’ opponents amassed a record of 103-89 in games where they did not play the Steelers which is third behind the Packers and the Patriots.
Pittsburgh’s point differential of 147 is almost double that of Baltimore as Pittsburgh managed to outscore its opponents by roughly nine points per game.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are four points better in our power rankings. At home, and against a division rival with two weeks to prepare, the Pittsburgh Steelers should be able to cover the three-point spread relatively easily.
PITTSBURGH, 28-17
