NFL Predictions for 2010 Season: Chicago Bears Season Preview

Earlier today, I started a series of articles named NFL Two-A-Days. I came up with the idea from ESPN’s Mike & Mike show, which previews two teams each day. If you missed my first one about the Baltimore Ravens here it is:

This is also in the same format as Mike & Mike use, four questions regarding the team, followed by a prediction of the team’s record. My second preview of the day is the Chicago Bears.
1. Will Jay Cutler thrive under Offensive Coordinator Mike Martz’s guidance?
Mike Martz can help quarterbacks, that isn’t the question. Just look at guys he has coached in the past. The issue is with his weapons—what reliable receiver do the Bears have? This is a question I’ll get into later.
2. Can Matt Forte bounce back from a sophomore slump?
His number of carries will go down, with a new pass happy offensive system and the addition of Chester Taylor. He can pass catches out of the backfield, which the Bears will desperately need. The offensive line will also need to improve before Forte does.
3. Who is the Bears most dependable wide receiver?
Most dependable target would be Greg Olsen, the tight end. Olsen led the team in receptions last season and is the main target. At wide receiver, Devin Hester needs to be the man, something he has yet to do.
4. Will Jullius Peppers revive this dying defense?
He can’t hurt, but this defense cannot stay healthy. Pairing him with Tommie Harris could create a monster on the defensive line. Brian Urlacher is aging and was injured, so can he get back to his old self. The defensive secondary has some questions, so I don’t see Peppers fixing this defense.
5. Record?
4-12, last in the NFC North.
Below is a link to Mike & Mike’s page on ESPN.com, you can check out their opinion on the Bears. Tomorrow I continue with the Dolphins and Falcons, just like Mike & Mike.
