After months of waiting for it to begin, the first week of training camp is officially in the books for the Chicago Bears.
The team spent the first week of camp going over many of the ideas and concepts it learned throughout the offseason in OTAs and minicamps. Now it will be looking toward adding more on both sides of the football as camp continues throughout the coming weeks.
With the team’s first preseason game looming ahead this Friday night against the Philadelphia Eagles, general manager Phil Emery and head coach Marc Trestman will continue their evaluation of the team to determine who will make the final 53-man roster.
Before it is required to reduce its current 90-man roster down to 53, the team will first need to reduce the roster from 90 players to 75 by Aug. 26. A number of current Bears are locks to make the team, and obviously, the preseason will wind up determining the fate of other players.
Some of these players on the margins, regardless of how they perform in the preseason, appear to be surefire cuts. Others fall in the category of being a probable cut, likely because of the strength of the players ahead of them on the depth chart, and some currently sit on the bubble, needing a strong showing and some stumbles from players ahead of them to make the team.
Here is our prediction for the Chicago Bears’ first wave of roster cuts.
