Chicago Bears kicker Robbie Gould overtook Kevin Butler on Sunday to become the franchise’s all-time leading scorer.

With a 30-yard field goal in the third quarter against the Kansas City Chiefs, Gould collected the 1,118th point of his career, moving him two points clear of Butler, per the Bears:

Gould knew full well the implications of his second field goal, per Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune:

In anticipation of Gould setting the new mark, Adam Jahns of the Chicago Sun-Times caught up with Butler, who was more than happy to cede the top spot.

“I couldn’t be more proud of Robbie to do what he’s done in his career at Chicago,” Butler said. “He’s just been consistent to a new level. He’s just been unbelievable. It means a lot to me, but it means more to me to have Robbie break it because I know what it has taken to get that point, and I know what means to him as a player.”

Gould set the Bears’ all-time field-goal mark in September and only continues to create more space between himself and Butler in that regard. Between the two, he is also the more accurate kicker, with his 86.1 percent accuracy rate nearly 13 points higher than Butler’s.

By the time he finishes his career, Gould will almost certainly be remembered as the best kicker in Bears history.
