Seahawks vs. Bears is an NFC divisional round matchup that few experts, analysts or even fans presumably predicted at various points during this season. And yet such is the nature of the NFL, as these two unlikely division winners will now meet on Sunday with a place in the NFC Conference Championship Game on the line.
Seattle’s story is well documented at this point, the first ever 7-8 division champion coming out of the much-maligned NFC West. Under first-year head coach Pete Carroll, Seattle pulled off a huge first-round upset of the defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints behind a great game from quarterback Matt Hasselbeck and an electrifying, must-see rushing touchdown from Marshawn Lynch.
Now the Seahawks head into Soldier Field to take on the second-seeded Chicago Bears, coming off a week’s rest and looking to get a step closer to another Super Bowl appearance.
Chicago rode a steely defense and solid play from a balanced offense that featured a better year from quarterback Jay Cutler, as well as impressive running from dynamic back Matt Forte.
Now is the time to get fully prepared and up to speed on what to expect from what should be a good Seahawks vs. Bears divisional playoff. I’ll take a look at all the key matchups that might decide this game, as well as shine a spotlight on key players and storylines to watch.
Let this be your go-to primer for one of the more intriguing matchups of the divisional round of the NFL playoffs.
