Seattle-Chicago: Lay The Points With The Bears Over the Seahawks

This Sunday, the Chicago Bears will look to continue their hot start to the 2010 season when they host the Seattle Seahawks. The Bears bounced back from an ugly loss against the Giants with a 23-6 win over the Panthers last week.
The Seahawks were on their bye last week, but come into the game off a 20-3 loss at St. Louis in week 4. If you are thinking about betting on the game this weekend, the current NFL odds have the Bears favored by six points over the Seahawks at home.
Seattle (2-2)
The Seahawks have been hit or miss this season, and it seems to depend on where they are playing. They have looked great in their two home wins over the 49ers and Chargers, but have been anything but good on the road, losing by an average of 17 points a game.
In their last game against the Rams, the Seahawks have really struggled to get anything going on offense in their last three games, as they have managed just three offensive touchdowns.
Seattle managed just 257 yards of total offense, and were a dismal 4-of-15 on third down conversions.
Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck has thrown the ball pretty well this season, that is, when he doesn’t throw it to the opposing team. Hasselbeck is completing over 61 percent of his passes, but has just four touchdown passes to six interceptions.
With the running game averaging just 79.5 yards per game, the Seahawks went out and traded for Bills running back Marshawn Lynch during their bye week, and it should really help this team if he can get them moving on the ground.
The only problem is the Bears come allowing just 79 yards a game, the third fewest in the NFL.
Chicago (4-1)
The fact that the Bears were able to win without starting quarterback Jay Cutler last week, really says a lot about just how good this team really is, especially on the defensive side of the football.
Backup Todd Collins completed just 6-of-16 attempts for 32 yards with four; interceptions, not many teams could win with a quarterback performance like that.
Collins was so bad, the Bears have announced that Caleb Hanie is the team’s new backup quarterback behind Cutler.
The good news for Chicago is they get Cutler back in action this week, who should have a field day against the second-worst pass defense in the NFL, as the Seahawks are allowing 302 yards a game through the air.
For the first time this season the running game looked good, as the Bears rushed for 218 yards. Matt Forte led the way with 166 yards and two scores.
Looking at the Odds: I think you have to jump all over the Bears at -6 in this one, as for whatever reason the Seahawks simply don’t play at the same level away from their home field.
Chicago has a very underrated defense this season, and I think they really put the clamps on Seattle’s offense.
My final score prediction is Chicago 30, Seattle 17.
