Ware Has Emerged as Playmaker in Charles’ Absence
This is a difficult setback for Kansas City, especially since Ware was an important part of the offense this year and last. With Jamaal Charles still working his way back from his torn ACL in 2015, Kansas City’s depth at running back is being tested.
Ware appeared in just two games in his career before the 2015 season but broke through for 403 rushing yards and six touchdowns in 11 games last year. He helped the Chiefs finish 11-5 and reach the postseason.
Coming into Week 8, Ware had rushed for 492 yards and two touchdowns and racked up 285 yards and a touchdown through the air.
Charcandrick West, who finished with 634 yards and four touchdowns on the ground in 2015, saw more opportunity as well but only had 87 yards rushing coming into Week 8.
If Ware misses time going forward, Charles is an option if he can bounce back from his absence. Kansas City also has West as another option to fill the void.
