St. Louis Rams vs. Chicago Bears: Bold Predictions for Each Team

The St. Louis Rams travel to Soldier Field on Sunday to take on the Chicago Bears in a game that looked like a mismatch to begin the season. But after seeing these two teams play a couple games, this matchup is a lot closer than it was at first glance.
The Rams were able to play the Detroit Lions close on the road and pulled out a tough victory at home against the Robert Griffin III-led Washington Redskins last week.
Sam Bradford is playing an inspired brand of football early on and the Rams defense is a young, energetic group that is certainly keeping things interesting.
One week the Bears are an offensive juggernaut that can do no wrong in a 41-21 win against the Indianapolis Colts. The next week is a different story, however, as Jay Cutler throws four interceptions and is sacked seven times in a 23-10 loss to the Green Bay Packers.
What Chicago team shows up is anyone’s guess. But be assured that the Rams will be ready for this game.
Here is one bold prediction for each team in Sunday’s matchup:
Rams Score 30 Points in Back-to-Back Games for the First Time Since the 2006 Season
The Rams offense has fallen short of success over the last few seasons. Though possessing one of the best running backs in the league in Steven Jackson, the current brand of the St. Louis offense is a far-cry from the Greatest Show on Turf that we all witnessed over a decade ago.
However, there is promise for the Rams’ future. While often injured, Jackson is still a threat out of the backfield and Bradford will anchor the quarterback position for a long time.
Danny Amendola might be the biggest secret in the NFL; though 15 catches for 160 yards and one touchdown in last week’s victory over the Redskins might have been his breakout party.
The Bears defense is stocked with talented names, but might feel added pressure in helping Cutler right the ship at home this week. Look for the Rams offense to build a little momentum heading into the teeth of its schedule.
Jay Cutler Continues Woes; Throws 3 Interceptions in Loss to the Rams
In his career, Jay Cutler has always been prone to throwing interceptions. While last season seemed to be a marked improvement up until he got injured and was out for the remainder of the season, his five picks so far in 2012 are a cruel reminder to Bears fans of just what they have at the quarterback position.
The high-risk, high-reward gunslinger has yet to learn how to simply manage games when need be at this point in his career; he probably never will by now.
After throwing four interceptions in last week’s loss to Green Bay, Cutler will be in a high-pressure situation in front of the home crowd to try to reverse his and the team’s fortunes.
St. Louis features a solid defensive line that can control a Bears line that has allowed nine sacks so far this season. That pressure should lead to plenty of mistakes into the hands of the Rams defense that has totaled four interceptions so far this season.
