The Chicago Bears announced Tuesday offensive tackle Tayo Fabuluje has been suspended four games for a violation of the NFL‘s policy on performance-enhancing substances.

Peggy Kusinski of NBC Chicago passed along Fabuluje’s texted response to the suspension, which read, “Took [an] appetite suppressant back in training camp that ended up failing me on a test. … Wasn’t intentional just [an] unfortunate situation.”

Fabuluje released a formal statement on his suspension, per Bears Insider:

Fabuluje was a sixth-round pick out of TCU in 2015’s NFL draft and has not appeared in any games as a rookie after an improbable run to the NFL amid numerous off-field obstacles involving his family. He was out of football in 2013, working three jobs to support himself and his sister as he saw his weight reach almost 400 pounds.

The 24-year-old is listed as a backup to Pro Bowl right tackle Kyle Long on the Bears’ official depth chart. Since Long is such an outstanding player, can play about anywhere in the trenches and has missed only one game in two-and-a-half seasons, there’s little reason for Chicago to fret about Fabuluje’s ban.

This suspension will hinder Fabuluje’s development as a player but won’t likely jeopardize his immediate future with the organization.

Nick Becton is slated to be the next man up in the event Long goes down or pivots to a different position in the event of an injury. Becton was undrafted out of Virginia Tech in 2013 and also appears as the Bears’ third-string left tackle on the team’s depth chart.
