The Bears Should Bring Back Adrian Peterson If Garrett Wolfe Doesn’t Return

The Bears could use help on special teams this season. With Garrett Wolfe‘s return to the Windy City considered a question mark, the Bears could be in the market for a veteran special teams guy.

Adrian Peterson, often referred to as the “other” Adrian Peterson, spent eight seasons with the Bears (2002-2009). Last season, Peterson was signed by the Seahawks, but didn’t land a spot on the roster.

Wolfe, like I said, is an unrestricted free agent. Back-up running back Kahlil Bell hasn’t contributed to the team enough as of late, and Harvey Unga was out for the season.

Would the Bears consider bringing back Adrian Peterson for special teams purposes?

Peterson appeared in 106 games, running the ball over 300 times for eight touchdowns. Peterson was always a solid contributor when he was put in the game at running back, but he was known for his great special team play.

The Bears could consider bringing Adrian Peterson back if Wolfe finds a better option with another team where he can contribute as a running back. The Bears might want to draft a young special teams running back, but I think bringing Peterson would be a better option considering his familiarity and experience with the Bears special teams unit.

Nothing will likely be decided until the NFL Draft. It will be interesting to see if they even consider bringing Peterson back.
