Vikings vs. Bears: Chicago Generates Turnovers, Hammers Division Rival

It’s amazing to look at the stats for the Bears offense and see they didn’t fly up and down the field in a 28-10 drubbing, which wasn’t even as close as that score looks.
Jay Cutler was tremendous, even only putting together 188 yards and a touchdown. He didn’t seem to have any ill effects from his concussion and, despite some bad play from the offensive line once again, stood tall in the pocket.
Cutler threw some stinkers (including his one interception) but also hung in under big pressure, delivering some huge strikes when he needed to.
By the way, if you were still worried about his hands, Brandon Marshall made a catch that was unreal, cutting across the middle and hauling in a contested ball which—if he were still dealing with pan-hands—would have dropped.
The new, improved Marshall made the catch and hung on as he hit the ground.
The defense stepped up as always, overcoming the injury to Charles Tillman and hammering at Christian Ponder and the Vikings receivers, keeping the offense from ever getting into a rhythm.
Tillman’s injury doesn’t appear to be bad and he should return for next week.
Of course, it wasn’t all good news.
Matt Forte left the game after injuring his ankle again. Bears fans can be relieved as it looked as if the running back tweaked his knee, not ankle. The play happened as Forte was gang-tackled and bent backwards on a play that momentarily appeared to be a fumble, which the Vikings ran back for a touchdown.
When reviewed, the call was overturned (rightfully so), but you had to watch Forte get bent like a pretzel on a loop for a good five minutes.
It doesn’t seem to be as bad as it looked initially, so Bears fans can breathe a sigh of relief.
Devin Hester also left the game, in his case with a concussion.
Still, this was otherwise a solid game. Even the offensive line, which allowed a lot of pressure, only let up one sack. Unfortunately, right guard Lance Louis left the game with an injury to his left knee and was replaced by Gabe Carimi.
Carimi had been benched in favor of Jonathan Scott but played well when he had to step in.
The Bears also lost Chris Spencer for parts of the game after he took over for Chilo Rachal, who left the team early last week. Spencer was in and out with a knee injury.
It’s a tough part of the schedule to have multiple injuries on the offensive line.
That’s next week’s problem, though. This week, they made it work and had a big win against a divisional foe.
